I've just had a porch about 3 sq m added to my house and want to lay ceramic tiles on the floor. The concrete which has been put down is rather uneven and at one point is about 1 cm higher than the lowest.
Can I lay ceramic floor tiles on to this surface and make up any unevenness with thicker tile adhesive or would it be best to first put down a self levelling floor compound. If levelling is advised which of the different types would be best.

Thanks in advance for any help.

It sounds like a poor finish you have there.
With 1cm bumps, you will probably find that you will need to use a levelling compound first.
