I am looking to ceramic tile a bathroom floor in a bungalow which had been previously tiled over asphalt. The old tiles have been removed along with the asphalt which was cracked. Will I be OK using a self levelling compound to provide a good sub floor or would you recommend relaying the asphalt, or is there an alternative. The concrete floor is about thirty years old and I have no reason to believe there is any water penetration. If this is OK should I apply some form of waterproof bonding to the concrete floor before using the self levelling compound

Thanks in anticipation
