Hi,

we are having problems with our CH system and i've been pouring over the manuals for a few days now but I can't figure out what is going on...

we have a Valiant ecoTec 615, a megaflo cylinder, and a honeywell controller and room thermostat.

our problem is that when we set the boiler to "summer mode" (heating temp down to min and hot water temp set to 55C) the hot water refuses to come on. When I set the heating temp to 55C also, the boiler will fire up and heat the hot water tank when required (the heating is off from the honeywell controller and the valves aren't sending any water to the rads as expected).

It's really odd to me, all I can think is that most likely I don't understand this properly or less likely maybe it's been wired up incorrectly...

Any insight would be much appreciated...! :D

There is no "summer mode" the dial with the tap symbol isint connected to anything, the dial with the rad symbol controls the temp of the water in the rads and if set too low effects the temp of the hot water, set the ch temp to 70c and all will be back to normal.

Thanks picasso,

This did work -- when I set the radiator temperature up, the boiler comes on and heats the cylinder as expected.

The thing that is odd is that the manual talks about setting the summer mode -- and the status code S.31 is also related to a 'summer mode'. Is this something that perhaps exists on fancier models and not ours?

Cheers

If your Vaillant 415 had been installed with Vaillant eBus controls (instead of the Honeywell stuff) the HW knob would have a function.

Your manual is for the 4 series (which is really a British tarted up Glowworm) and assumes Vaillant's own external controls are used.
