We drained and refilled our vented CH system today, to replace a faulty motorised valve and to remove and de-sludge one upstairs radiator.

We also added a Fernox system restorer to the F&E tank before refilling.

We refilled the system, bled all the rads, bled the pump and also the vent above the CH cylinder.

Our Ideal Stelrad Turbo 2 condensing boiler will not relight. There is no sign of the pilot light and no noise from the boiler at all, bar a slight 'singing' sound, as if something is expanding inside.

Any suggestions for what to do next gratefully received. Do we need to check the operation of the pump in case of an airlock somewhere?

The pump COULD have decided to stick but I wouldn't have thought it likely. Undo the screw in the middle of the end to check.
Check the power and "switched live" signals to the boiler. Not familiar with the model but I would expect to hear the fan early on in the starting!

Thanks Chris, we'll try those suggestions in the morning.

We know the boiler was fitted in 1991 so it's probably well past its best!
