Here's the basics

My Horstmann 425 clock packed in, but the switches were still working to turn on and off. Then they stopped working altogether , so I figured the problem was the programmer. I bought a new one today and fitted it on the old backplate, but it's not fixed it.

When I switch it on now there are a few clicks (there was nothing before), and the DUOVAL is making clicking noises, but no CH or HW.

Any ideas? If you nee more info feel free to ask

thanks

did you get the page on wiring connections for your new programmer to replace the kind the old one was?

It was exactly the same programmer so figured that it would be the same connections.

Ah.

Probably right then. Might be worth checking the model no, but I take your point.

Any sign of loose or overheated connections on the backplate terminals?

Is there any switching on the back of the programmer, e.g. Gravity/pumped?

I can check the connections on the back - does it sound like a electrical problem? It wouldn't surprise me if they are loose. The previous owner has previous if you know what I mean!

The only switch is a wee screwlock on the front which neds turned for a pumped system, which I have done.

thanks

Beyond me then, sorry. I am a householder not a pro but have done a few things, including changing programmers and other controls.

I expect someone else will be along in a minute

good luck :)

Good lord - whatever is wrong the electric shower stopped working! When I switched the power off to the heating it came on again. I'm guessing it's definitely electrical then.
