Hello all I was hoping somebody could answer a couple of questions for me please.

I need to replace a downstairs radiator which is very old and replace with a new one. I am going to have to move the pipes to fit my new radiator. The pipes are concealed in a solid floor and I was thinking of doing the following - could you advise if this is the correct way to tackle the job :-

1) Drain the whole system.
2) Remove radiator
3) Knock out concrete to expose pipes
4) Either extend or reduce the pipes with plastic piping to fit one of the 2 different radiators my wife has chosen
5) Plumb to new radiator
6) Test
7) Patch up solid floor

My main worry is using plastic piping and covering it in cement - is this OK ?
Is there a better way to do this or have I forgotten anything ?

I have replaced all the valves on my existing rads so I am not a complete novice but that is about the extent of my knowledge.

Thanks
Gary

I used radiator valve tails especially designed for this. They allow you upto 50mm (2") of movement when replacing an imperial sized radiator with a metric one. You don't even need to drain the system to fit.
