checking receipts

Am I entitled to ask to look at receipts of materials purchased for work carried out in bathroom?
not had invoice as it was my neighboor that did the work....

I suppose you are but I think your neighbour will be offended!
Best to put it down to experience and remember that if your neighbour went to the trouble of purchasing the goods he will have wanted something for his time also.Supply materials yourself next time and then you know you haven't been ripped off

Agree completely. The question is "are you happy with the result of his work?" If you are, that's good. There are many, many people who are not happy with work they have had done by others (had to word that one carefully ) and they have probably paid much more. The goods are part of the job but the finished result is what matters and you could have something done at lower cost and reqret it for months or even years.
