Hi, I have just had a new wood burning stove installed with a stainless steel liner. The chimney runs through the centre of the house.

One fitter has said it needs insulation around the liner, another (the one who did the work) says it does not because it is in the centre of the house and that insulation can lead to damp problems in the chimney.

Who is correct?

Thanks

i'd go with the fitter that fitted it. As long as he followed manufacturers instructions and also its an internal chimney. You should be OK.
Do you know what temperature the flue gases are they likely to exceed 250c ?

Hi,

I would imagine that the temperature exceeds 250 degrees - it certainly gets very hot indeed, but I can't find any references to temperatures anywhere in the fitting instructions.
