Hi, I'm changing our bath and basin. I like the look of the chrome waste traps often seen with modern bathrooms. I consider my DIY skill as high but have limited plubming knowledge (tend to learn from DIY books).

The soil is at skirting board level and the chrome waste has a horizontal metal pipe - My question is, how are these chrome waste traps connected to platic pipes that feed to the soil pipe.

All DIY books only show platic piping. Can I join the metal horizontal pipe to a pastic pipe using a platic locking ring?

Any advice appreciated.

Thanks

you put one of these

onto the basin outlet pipe, then plastic to the soil pipe
