i have chipped away the old plaster from a brick wall to expose the bricks so as to make a feature wall. im left with a wall with a few areas of plaster that cant be removed. any help or suggestions on what to use? thought about brick acid or cleaner......

I always have mixed emotions about people exposing brickwork which is supposed to be Non facework. On the one hand, it's comforting to know others share my love of brickwork, but on the otherhand, if they like the look of this poor quality brickwork, then perhaps my efforts to produce a decent result on facework is a total waste of time. Maybe I should just slap it up like a partition wall and then varnish it :?

Anyhow, yes the brick cleaning acid will make life a lot easier if you can stand the mess (and you'll want to use plenty of water to wash it off afterwards). A tarpauling securely attached at the bottom of the wall, before you start, may help protect the floor. Also, make sure you have plenty of ventilation when you're using the acid.
