Cleaning silicone off glass

M

marsaday

I have made some new secondary glazing units and i cocked up with some silicone and had to take out a piece of glass and redo it. Got silicone all the way around the glass.

How can i get rid of it fully as have been cleaning with glass cleaner liquid this aft and it works, but it takes ages. The silicone has cured by the way as did this the other day.

Is there a good glass cleaner i can use which wont involve so much rubbing ?

As mentioned above - scrape off with a stanley blade (carefully). If that's not possible (maybe you have sculpted or obscure glass) you can get silicon remover from screwfix etc, it sort-of softens the silicon after a few mins and makes it more-easily-scrapeable, rather than easily wipe-off-able, if you get my drift.

WD40 also helps loosen silicone, let it soak in for 20 minutes.
