I have a one-direction honeywell TRV value that is installed correctly, however, it still clicks when the heating is initially turned on. The valve is approx 10 years old. I'm skeptical its thermal expansion since the system is a low heating system (<35c).

Such a low temperature system will require larger flows than traditionally used. Could the sound you hear be caused by microscopic air bubbles being carried through the valve?
Was the system originally designed for low temperature heating fluid?

It used to be a lot worse with the old system which was a standard gas set up with heating at 60c hence why I thought it may be a thermal expansion issue. I will take the TRV head off tomorrow and see how that goes.
simply remove the TRV sensor had and if noise stops it is the TRV if noise persists its something else
