Coax Cable Signal Splitter

Hi,

I need to split the signal from the aerial to connect to 2 TVs. When I use a conventional splitter the sigbnal drops to an unacceptable level. When either TV is connected without the splitter the signal is fine.

Do I just have a cheap splitter? Can I get some kind of signal boosting splitter? Anything else I can do?
