I have some (water filled) radiators in my house which are cold at the bottom but very hot at the top.

They stay that way even if the central heating has been on all day.

The system is more then 20 years old,

Does any one have any suggestion?

You need a powerflush for sure! The system has become sludgy.

or you could take each rad off in turn, take it outside and put a hose on it (turning the hose on also helps)

Do you think that it could be a locked in air pocket at the bottom of the radiator???????

very unlikely - air pockets generally stay at the top of rad. Sounds like sludge in old rads as everyone else has said

Need flushing / replacing
