Hi, I'm new here and certainly not an experienced DIYer so any advice is appreciated!

I have made a bad decision in having a porcelain floor installed without underfloor heating. It is very cold in the winter :(

The tiles have been laid on 12mm ply that has been screwed to a suspended timber floor which has no insulation underneath between the joists.

So my question is, without removing the floor altogether, is there any way to improve the temperature of the floor? Will insulating the floor help? Are there any heating systems available that would help? I am not looking to heat the room, just make the floor more comfortable.

Thanks in advance!

Not a lot you can do with this one, I'm afraid.....if its on the ground floor then insulating between the joists may make a tiny difference - if you can get in there from underneath!
Failing that, its a case of ensuring the room keeps as much of its available heat in there....once the floor has warmed up a bit, it will take a while to cool again.
John :)

Thanks for your advice John,

I thought this may be the case. There is plenty of room under the floor so insulation wouldn't be too difficult to install (I think). Question is, do you think it is worth it?!
