Hi Guys

We have just installed a new Triton thermostatic mixer shower, but ever since we are having problems with the shower going completely cold for a few seconds (presure also increases). It seems as if the boiler isnt sending any cold water at all as the hot pipe goes cold. We basically replaced a very old Mira mixer so not pipework changes at all.

This doesnt happen when running the hot tap consistently.

Our boiler is a new Valiant Ecotec less than 12month old.

Any advice/ suggestions would be appreciated. :D

Some of the older showers had the hot and cold the opposite way round from what is considered standard today, check the pipework that you have cold on the right and hot on the left as you stand in front of the shower.

Thanks for the response.

Yep pipe work is correct, the shower has lovely red and blue stickers to help us novices.

Im wondering whether it could be to do with the hot water temp setting on the boiler?? Currently at 50 degrees. Ive tried turning it right down - my reasoning maybe the boiler is struggling to heat to the temp fast enough therefore delay in hot water. Didnt work though.

Edited to add - There is a water govenor on the cold feed to the shower, other half thinks this might not be letting enough cold in to match the hot causing the shower to stop the hot supply?

Sounds more like you boilers shutting down then firing up again.
Watch the boiler when the shower go's cold.

I'd suggest checking the manufacturer's instructions for the shower. Most specify a minimum hot water temperature, usually around 50 degrees. If your boiler is set to 50, then by the time the water reaches the shower it is likely to be less than that.
