About 3 years ago I dot and dabbed pasterboard onto the outside walls of an old terraced house. Ever since there has been a problem of condensation forming on the cold spots (worst in winter) where the dabs are. This repeated condensing/evaporating process then causes discolouration of the paintwork. I am sure that this is not an underlying damp problem on the wall behind as the paint dries immediately as soon as it is repainted. But then the problem reappears over a period of time following the condensation process.
I know this is a common problem, from what I have read, but have never seen any remedy mentioned other than the fact that it is best to use thermal plasterboard in the first place. Does anyone know of a remedial fix such as priming the plasterboard with something prior to painting?
