I have a house with combi. It used to a be conventional vented setup with header, cylinder etc.
I want to change back to vented (solid fuel) system boiler setup but use gas boiler until biomass is installed.
Could there be some flow/ return dead legs under the boards to get back on to for my new cylinder (combination thermal store) to attached to?

They should be boiler flow, boiler return, DHW, heating flow.

Does everyone strip the copper tube out??

Wouldn't bother. Biomass a lot of hassle unless you have free fuel.

You can install a thermal store that the combi or the biomass can heat up.
You then supply your central heating and hot water from that.

But burning biomass isn't the eco answer I'm afraid.

tbh why are you trying to do the job twice ? leave it as it is until or if you get your new boiler fitted or just get a new system boiler fitted with the new cylinder & forget the biomass idea unless you have a massive space to store the pellets.
