Hi Everyone
I've been a reader of the forum for a while and have used some great suggestions from here for my own DIY however, I've come to the time when I need some real independent advice about my boiler.
I know everyones thought on the Halstead Finest Range so I know its not the best, but let me tell you whats been happening and see if you can help or offer any advice.
I've moved into a property with the halstead finest Gold, it was intalled in 2001 according to the sticker on it, when I moved in CH worked fine but had pulsing cold / hot water from the boiler, I had a new rad fitted and the guy had to drain and re pressure and then I had NO DHW at all.
I paid BG to come out and do thier first fix at which point I was told that the Heat Exchanger was clogged with deposits so the boiler wasnt heating water, this was changed along with a diverter valve ( I think thats what its called) as he said the water was going the wrong way, (i don't think it was actually as i'd done the pipe test i'd read o n here!) all seemed good for a few days then water was coming out the PRV at quite a rate and the pressure was at 2.5 bar, i dropped the pressure and BG came back out and fitted a new PRV, he set the pressure ay 1 bar and all seemed good, last week I looked in the loft and the boiler was at 2.8 bar, i panicked a little and when the DWH or CH was run the water poured from the PRV, I rang again and they cam again Thursday and relesed pressure and filled again to 1 bar and today the other half ran a bat th and hot water cascaded form the PRV even thought the pressure valve was at 2.5.
The Loop is closed and I can't hear water going into the boiler.
After the 1st visit they gave the old story of they cant get parts and I needed a new boiler, so they came round, nice guy in a brand New Merc and quoted me £3900 for a in and out boiler, no rads etc.
I'm now in a situation where I can't really afford a new boiler as we only moved in 6 months ago, but can't have red hot water pour out my PRV every time I run the tap.
Would you say the boiler is kanckered after all these new parts have been fitted? or is it someting else, can't see why the pressure keeps rising on its own?
Any help advise is very much appreciated.
Jon
