Our boiler has been doing this for a few years now, after using the hot tap in the bathroom it will often start making a strained chugging noise a short while later. The same thing doesn't seem to happen after using the hot tap in the kitchen. Turning the boiler off and on again resolves the problem. It is a vailliant ecotec plus boiler, can anyone advise why is this happening and the cheapest way to fix it? Thanks in advance !

You say it has been doing it for a few YEARS!

Have you not have the boiler serviced regularly, that is normally annually?

It hasn't had a proper service for a while. The plumber fixed a different problem with the pressure a few months ago, he did have a good look at it including refilling it with some special chemical also fixing some corroded pipe, maybe that was as good as a service?

Unfortunately I didn't mention the chugging problem to him at the time, either I forgot or he was really expensive so I was trying hard to keep the cost down.

I don't recognize your problem but at a proper routine service most possible causes would often be adjusted and cured.

Since your boiler is not suitable for DIY repairs, it would be more expensive to have it diagnosed and fixed on a specific visit than combined with a routine service.

But as you have tolerated it for a few years then it does not seem so important to you and does not seem to have damaged the boiler ( as many odd noises can do ).
