Hi,

I've searched these forums so sorry if I'm repeating others.

I have just bought a house (shell) and need to fit a whole new central heating and water system.

It has 4 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, 1 ensuite, 1 wc, 2 reception rooms, 1 study, and 1 kitchen. Lots of rooms!

My plumber has suggested fitting an open vented traditional system with stored cold water. Having read around on the internet a Vaillant or Megaflow closed system seems the way to go (assuming the water pressure is good).

Any advice on this would be really aapprecitedas he's looking to start work very soon and I need to make a decision.

Thanks in advance.

Rob.

The boiler system should be closed.

A mains water supplied HW system, conbi or unvented cylinder needs good mains water FLOW!

The dynamic flow needs to be tested before any decisions can be taken.

An open water system is far cheaper to install.

A mains pressure based system is much more expensive and requires adequate supply flow.

Thanks for that, so assuming flow is good, I go for a closed water system? Does this require a combi boiler (or similar) as well as the pressurised tank?

assuming you water pressure is up to it I would go for a vaillant system boiler (closed water system) and unvented cylinder (vaillant unistor perhaps) there are as many choices as there are plumbers but these would be my choice.
