Should I avoid compression and push fit copper connections where I can't get at them after tiling has been completed?

Soldered joints would be better if you are able to do so, unless you have some sort of access. Having said that I have Never had a leak using speedfit but wouldn't want you have to remove tiles in the future.
If you are connecting a shower, remember to flush out any remaining flux before connection.
