Concealed shower issue, thread too short?

Hi All,

Fitting a concealed shower and currently fitting the handheld part but the thread appears too short?

I’ve pictured what I’m playing with, what am I doing wrong!? I can get away with just about 2 turns once the tiles and adhesive is on, to me that doesn’t sound sufficient?

Any help is appreciated.
