Concrete Lintel

Hi

Just trying to put curtain rails up in "new" house (1960s but new to us) but having terrible trouble.

Have been told the Fench Doors have a concrete lintel above them. Drill simply won't go into it.

Any ideas?? Some people have said to go higher but wife worried that will look naf !!

Also what drill is best. Cordless or corded etc. What is diference between an impact drill and a hammer drill or a SDS.

SDS is the only one that will drill into concrete and they are so low priced relatively that I don`t know WTF the "hammer" drill is still on any shelves in stores today

you may be hitting a metal insert,what sort of drill and bits are you using?
