My parents have a 20 year old lean to wooden conservatory which has rot above one end of the double door frame.
Cotswold Treatments advised to replace the beam which runs to the small roof and to chase the rotten part of the door frame out and to renew, ideally to replace if possible.
I am not sure the best way to proceed.
The glazing units have to be removed and then an acro under the door frame and then to dismantle carefully to remove the rotten sections.
The wood is Cedar.

It was suggested to chase the wood in the door frame but I am not sure how to do this, with a metal strip of some kind.
Cut the rot out and replace the wood and then screw a metal strip on the inside to act as a reinforcing strip?

Also unsure how the beam is fixed to the roof, two beams converge at the roof. So I guess remove the felt and ply and see how it is screwed in.

Or is it better to brace it from the inside and renew when it falls down?

Keep the work as simple as possible with a system of take out and replace measure sections carefully remove the rotten sections sections and replace either full length or piece in joining together using half lap joints screwed and glued together PU glue is good for this it has good gap filling qualities and loves damp.

Where it's difficult to splice you can get very good results with polyester resin/glass fibre.
