Am I OK to remove a cooker hood, or is it notifiable? It still works, but there is no cooker in the room so I want to get rid of it.

Thanks.

How is the hood powered? plug and socket or switched/fused connector? If the hood is just being disconnected and removed then go ahead. If the power supply is being removed, then unless you know what you are doing, then get a registered electrician in.

Removing a cooker is not notifiable work.
But in removing the hood, will this also mean removing the outlet accessory/accessories connected to the hood and would this then leave the remaining cables outside of the prescribed safe zones.

It's powered from a switched FCU. The FCU is a spur from an adjacent socket so it's straightforward to remove.

So it's non notifiable to remove the cooker hood and leave live cables behind? But I'm not allowed to do a proper job and remove the spur cables and FCU? Doh!

Just to clarify, I can remove the cooker hood and FCU and cables and it's all non notifiable?

Thanks.

You can remove cables, but can not install them.
But you must make sure you are not effecting the permitted safe zones and you are not altering the main body of the circuit.
ie: if this was a ring circuit. You are not removing part or parts of the ring circuit, that will make the ring incomplete and no longer continuous.
And if it's part of a radial circuit, disconnect these cables are not in effect killing the rest of the circuit.
