Cooling Conservatory

for what it's worth, keeping a conservatory cool in the heat of the summer (in the daytime) is nigh on impossible in my experience...
However, water is pretty slow in reacting to surrounding air temperature.... for example if you wanted to make a cuppa. and you kettle had bust.... turning the thermostat to 40deg would hardly affect the cup of cold water. So a huge tank of water shouldn't shift more than a few degrees, plus in our climate, we can get cooler nights, even in mid summer so i shouldn't think you'd get boiled fish in the course of 24 hours..

I'd go with a/c every time (I've installed quite a few in conservatories)
They'll cool in the summer and heat in the winter. The latest inverters are very energy efficient and quiet.

Stay away from the models from the sheds, they are rubbish and spares back up is terrible.

I'd get a couple of quotes from local companies and go for either LG or Fujitsu. There have been occasions where it has actually been cheaper to have a/c installed than have blinds made and fitted!

It's also worth noting that many of the a/c's now incorporate electronic plasma air filters that will remove a good % of pollen and fag smoke.

.....Edit.

Just to add. Stay away from the portable a/c's from Argos and the like. They don't have the necessary duty to do the job and reliability isn't great. A professionally installed system will look good, do the job and you'll get good spares backup. You can also quite often get a 3 year guarantee!

cheers for advice, (sorry for delay in getting back) im getting the tank this tuesday so ill be able to see how the temperature affects it before full blown summer so ill leave it as it might be alright but look out for a second hand chiller or save up for a air con system.

cheers again
