cooling fan issues

hi - has anyone got a peugeot 307 1.6 HDI 110 bhp model car...mine is a 2004 plate which ive recently purchased.....why does the cooling fan kick in even though the temperature needle stays on normal 80-90?....i drive 3 or 4 miles and can hear the cooling fan kicj in quiet regularly...there is no leaky radiator, no coolant loss...no over heating....its just this damm fan that seems to kick in regularly.?

ive been told by a freind who has the same car but automatic that this is normal for these type of models, in particlar the 1.6 hdi versions...can someone confirm this please...as i dont want to end up changing thermostats, coolant sensers...etc...ta

do you have the air con on? IIRC the fan will run more often if the air con is on to blow air though the exchanger,

no mate..i dont use the air conditioning at all..

It's just keeping the temp in check. Nothing to worry about.
