Could this automatic air vent really be installed horizontally?

Hi all,

The Q&A for https://www.screwfix.com/p/bottle-air-vent-15mm/34359 stipulates that the automatic air vent can be installed horizontally, which I find strange, do you think this is correct or a mistake?

I need to replaced a damaged 1/2" or 3/8" air vent with side entry but not sure about the best way forward.

The main question is how can I determine if the thread if 1/2" or 3/8"? (sorry I am not very knowledgeable is imperial measurements)
- If it is 1/2":
a) I could simply purchase https://plumbing4home.com/automatic-air-vent-12-inch-15mm-valve-side-entry
or
b) convert from 1/2" to 15mm using https://www.screwfix.com/p/p802-08-male-elbow-15-x/44344 and then install the 15mm air vent https://www.screwfix.com/p/bottle-air-vent-15mm/34359?activeTab=qaTT
- if it is 3/8":
c) would I have to convert from 3/8" to 1/2" first (using https://www.screwfix.com/p/bush-x-3-8/87443)? and then use solution a) or b) above
d) or shall I simply use a 3/8" male to 3/8" female elbow converter such as https://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/hydraulic-elbow-threaded-adaptors/7972003/ and then install https://www.screwfix.com/p/bottle-air-vent-3-8/76650?

Any tip / advise on what to use would be greatly appreciated.

Why not photo the offending item,showing the valve and the connection. An oem part may be available,then you wont need to faff around with adaptors.

SF, often their parts are advertised incorrectly-actually a lot of their stuff is advertised incorrectly

I have now determined it is a 3/8" thread. Since I cannot find any direct replacement (i.e. air vent with 3/8" side entry), I am thinking of getting:
- 3/8" air vent https://www.screwfix.com/p/bottle-air-vent-3-8/76650
and
- Male 3/8" to Female 3/8" elbow https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Nickel-P...var=540957161587&_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649

Is that the best solution? Or do they still sell air vents with 3/8" side entry?

Thanks Terry, I managed to find a 3/8" male to female elbow at my local plumb shop which allowed me to install the 3/8" air vent in a vertical position, all sorted.
