coving sizes

I need to buy a length of coving to match existing coving. I've seen it sold in several sized ( eg 127mm etc ) but what measurement does this relate to on the existing coving?.
The original coving is about 15yrs old. I've already bought one piece the wrong size!

Example: 120mm wide will give 82mm on side and top.

Any way you could make a paper template and take that with you?
