Hi all

I want to install a decorative cast iron fireplace with a marble surround in the space occupied by the currently-sealed old fireplace (pictured).

I know the proportions I want and can source said features.

What do I have to actually do?!

I assume it's a case of creating enough of a hole to fit the new cast iron fireplace into, and then making sure it's sealed (as we won't be using it).

I assume a decorative hearth can be installed either on top of the parquet, or inset (you can tell from the picture that additional parquet has been used to 'fill' the gap left by the old hearth.

Any advice or obvious things I've missed gratefully appreciated
