I have 2 questions:

1. I am installing a 2 way CU in my garage and will be fixing it to a plywood backboard. My garage is the prefab panel type and i was wondering if it acceptable to secure the backboard to a concrete panel using gripfill. My garage adjoins next doors garage so i'd rather not use screws if possible.

2. From the CU i will be running 2 double sockets off the 16A and a double flourescent fitting (2x58w) off the 6A. The only appliance that will be permanently on (using the 16A) will be a freezer.

I also have a 500w halogen PIR and was wondering if it would be ok to connect this to the 6A rather than the 16A, so that if for any reason it trips it won't affect the freezer.

Thanks

I wouldn't like to see a consumer unit fixed to a board held up by nothing more that gripfill, I would prefer mechanical fixings of some sort.

As for the 500W floodlight, yes go ahead and connect it to your 6A lighting circuit.

The flood light can be placed on the 6amp breaker, via a switch.

The board could be gripfilled, aslong as the fixing was as secure as it would be screwed. Propping with a piece of wood overnight would be a good idea, followed by a good tug test!

I will never rely on gripfill alone to fix electrical accesories etc.

The only time I use waterproof gripfill, is when converting flush single sockets to surface doubles, I'll draw round the double box, scrape off all wallpaper around the outline back to bare plaster, and then use waterproof gripfill to stick the double box in place, then insert two fixing screws through the holes in the double box, to meet up with the original fixing holes of the single flush mounted box.

Waterproof gripfill is far stonger and more durable than normal gripfill.

This way the waterproof gripfill will seal any gaps around the surface box, and the two fixing screws will secure the box mechanically as well.
