Curtain pole problems

Hi

We are having problems with our curtain pole in our new build house which is now hanging out of the wall. We have tried all types of plugs but to no avail. Curtain pole is metal with three brackets and curtains are quite heavy.
Would using a wooden batten with more attachment points and fixing pole to that solve the problem?

Any suggestions appreciated.
