I am buying a 1930s bungalow built from Bath stone. The pillars of the bay window have black signs of damp inside at head height. It seems to be solid stone and it is painted on the inside. Can someone explain how it has come to be damp inside and a possible remedy please. The guttering and roof appear sound.
