Hi,
Our house is a 3 year old timber frame, which we have lived in from new. Over the last couple of months we have noticed, after a period of rain, several of the upstairs rooms smell really musty, I can only describe it as a damp plaster smell. No visible damp patches anywhere in any of the rooms. Obviously we are not experts but my husband has checked the roof space and no sign of leaks there either. There is no smell whatsoever when it has not been raining. We have contacted the builder who is due to call out with us, however if its a dry day you cant smell anything and with no visible sign of damp im wondering how we prove it and also has anyone has this before and what were your outcomes. We also have a PIV system installed that runs constantly. Any advice is welcome thanks

Buy a humidity meter so you can see what's going on. Cheap off Amazon or DIY store.

Go outside when it’s raining and study the gutters and downpipes. Binoculars might help. If there is a better view from a neighbour’s upstairs windows, do that. Or even use a drone.
