Looking at buying a house which has just had a new damp proof put in it, the bloke that owns the house is a builder and one of his mates has done the work, so the problem is that it was a back-hander, so there is no warrenty or guarantee to the work.

SHOULD THIS PUT ME OFF THE HOUSE?

OR is there any questions i should be asking him on the second viewing, my main concern is 3 or 4 years down the line the house starts to show damp and we have no come back so to speak!!!!!!!

Did they cut a groove out in section then put in the new dpc or are you seeing holes for the injection chemical treatments. If you have any damp now, it should be the surveyor reports. These 20 yrs or whatever damp proof warranty are worthless anyway.

Okay, they are not new dpc just chemical injection treatment.

There's more details on here if you can do a search for damp proofing.
