Decking... Drainage?

When fitting decking is one supposed to do something to let water in the grooves escape? Like build it on a slope? I've never noticed decking having a discernable tilt!

it is also much easier to clean if you can sweep along the grooves and off the edge.

you don't need much fall for water to run off if the grooves are not blocked with dirt.
