default mail client

when i try to click an email link on various web pages it says"the default mail client is not properly installed" i don't have any trouble sending and receiving manual emails, i'm outlook express

after reading a few posts about this subject i have now fixed this by going to "my computer-documents and settings-administrator-start menu-programs-...i clicked on "set program access and default short cut" and checked microsoft web brouser and emails....and hey presto i can access links now into my emails...IE8
