'fraid I don't understand the question, could you clarify, what are you trying to achieve, what have you already done, what if anything went wrong etc etc.

sorry will start again

downloaded vrdialog_Demo_install.zip 4.62MB file

the software requires a connection from pc/laptop to a combi boiler see link below

http://www.vaillant.co.uk/_products...mbination/produkt_vaillant/turboMAX_plus.html

and this is the full uk version

http://www.vaillant.co.uk/_products/Products/Controls and diagnostics/Diagnostics/

Not being a expert , would this software demo run from a usb/rs232 serial converter ?

if need more details i will add more links etc

TIA

edit

Maybe i am approaching this from the wrong angle ?

Old pcs have serial conectors - or new mATX motherboard giving usb 2 ,serial plus vga sound lan SATA into a thin hardback book size pc case
http://www.asus.com/products4.aspx?l1=3&l2=13&l3=150&model=378&modelmenu=1

Then the pc can be left permanently connected to combi boiler?

I've used USB/Serial interfaces with managed switches and had no significant problems. You basically configure the USB port to act as a COM port. In theory, the process is invisible to the nodes.

Your motherboard does have a COM port header. You can buy the backplanes from places like maplin. You need to check the pinouts though.

Ideal solution would be just to have a pc with no keyboard mouse monitor etc just a 'black box' plugged in to combi boiler but accessed by another pc via lan ?
