We are needing to fit a stopcock to a Hackney Homes flat. At the moment the only stopcock is for the whole block. The water supply in is in steel pipes so we reckon that we need to cut the steel pipe and join in copper with a stopcock. We think we need a dielectric union for the join but can not find a supplier in East London. Any suggestions for a supplier? (also any other advice about the job?)

I doubt they will let you isolate the entire block to change this stopcock, a borough I used to work for wouldn't let you isolate under any circumstances!

Even when there was water pi55ing down through 3 flats

How about a Philmac universal coupling?
