Hi,

How difficult would it be to replace a section of steel heating pipe with copper? joining new copper pipe to steel pipe at a union?. I've attached a couple of pictures of the steel pipe unions.

1. Not particularly difficult. Unscrew steel pipe from union, insert appropriate male / compression iron (probably 3/4" x 22mm (or equivalent size used in Ireland)), connect copper.

2. BUT - you might be headed for corrosion problems caused by electrolytic action mixing two metals.
