I have taken 2 old rads out of my living room and I think they were imperial (stupidly threw them away before measuring them!) now trying to buy new ones, the gap from centre to centre of upstand pipes is 1148mm ( or internal measurement of 1108mm) what size rad do I need, anyone? thanks.

You are probably looking at 1000 mm rads but you will have to modify your old pipework. 
Can't I use an 1100mm rad or extensions? thanks
