Dimmer Switch to Control two lights

I have two lights in a room controlled by one on/off switch on a 1-way circuit. Currently wiring is one Live into 'Common' and the other Live into '1-Way'. Earth is to the box and the neutral wires are into a plastic box (sorry don't know the actual term (terminal?)).

As this is going to be a nursery I would like to add a dimmer so the light isn't too bright. I have just wired up the Live wires to L1 and Common which is switching both lights on OK when the dimmer is pressed, but not dimming the lights when turned.

So I guess my questions are:

1) Is it possible to add a dimmer to a 1-way circuit that controls two lights?

2) Is there any amendment to the wiring required to make the dimmer work?

3) Or if I have done the correct wiring, is it more likely the bulbs are not compatible with a dimmer?

Thanks,

Are the bulbs dimmable? Is the dimmer in the wattage range of bulbs fitted?

Yep that was the issue, just changed them over to dimmable bulbs and working fine now.

Sorry, could have done that before I posted anything!
