Discolouration on aluminium cills

It could be oxidation caused by atmospheric pollution or maybe even the age of the anodizing.
I'm thinking itis likely this. It is worse on the side of the house more open to the sun. Rather than spraying, I'm thinking something like shoe polish etc, unless anyone comes up with the correct thing.
