Firstly apologies for poor title.

My sister in law has a new dishwasher in a new house. The working surface immediately above the dishwasher showed signs of swelling. She called the builders in who although agreeing to change the work surface said that the fault lay with the Dishwasher (not supplied by the builders) venting excessive moisture.

The AEG rep visited and said that there was no fault with the Dishwasher.

Sadly the work surface is once more showing tell tale signs of swelling immediately above the Dishwasher.

Can anyone suggest what may be causing this problem please? Or alternatively any solution which could be tried?

Many thanks

Alex

was the underside of the worktop above the DW treated with a coat of two of waterproof paint/varnish/sealer etc..
If not that's the likely problem.

when it was instal ed there should be a moisture strip above the diswasher door just underneath the work top ,it was in the pack that came with the appliance ,its a thin strip of clear plastic, to stop steam going on to worktop and ruining it .

Many thanks guys that is certainly not there with the replacement worktop. Looks as if both builder and AEG rep were correct inasmuch as the worktop and the dishwasher were OK just the people who installed it screwed up.

Hope the damage will not get wors if they get a barrier installed pronto.

Some of these just have sticky back foil shield under the worktop or a steel plate screwed underneath to prevent this.
