Dishwasher waste extension hose

Just bought a slimline dishwasher Indesit IDS105 and the waste hose supplied is short by 50cm.

Thought it would be simple enough to buy an extension hose. I thought Indesit might supply one for free so contacted supported, they said extension hose would make the dishwasher much less efficient and said I should call a plumber...

Any thoughts? Would an extension hose not work?

Should be fine, just cut it to the right length.

Don't leave it longer than required and don't have it slopping around behind the units.
