Re-sited faithful dishwasher (AEG 348) on shelf ABOVE washing machine and attached drain hose to one arm of new double drain outlet adapter (looks like upside down Y). When it was on the floor D/W worked - now not. Water remains up to door level. Have checked filters and hose (for kinks). Could it be that hose needs to be raised ABOVE the bottom level of the dishwasher to work (as opposed to now where it drops straight down 3 feet to floor level where outlet input is)?

Sounds like I suspected then. Would it work if before hose descends I curve it up 30 cm and then let it drop down to outlet - or would this still act like a siphon or whatever is causing it to not work?

Fingers crossed but after realigning outlet hose from d/w so it first goes up 2 feet high before dropping to the drain pipe it seems to be working!
