disinfecting storage tanks

Hi all,

I was recently doing some plumbing repair work in a block of flats and was asked if I could disinfect two cold water storage tanks.

I had a quick look in the basement and there are two large stainless steel tanks around 3k-5k ltrs supplying a series of pumps which in turn supply the building.

I have never done anything like this before and really don't want to turn down work, especially as where I live there are tons of this kind of set-up.

Has anyone had experience in this kind of work, if so what sort of equipment and chemicals should I be looking to purchase.

I dont know about Italy!

But in the UK there is a set procedure and a certificate has to be issued on completion! Normally considered a rather specialised job.
