distorting sound

Hi guys, Ive got an E-systems PC with Vista and lately theres been a problem with the quality of the sound. Its quite distorted with any computer sounds and also youtube vids and also playback of CDs is slow and distorted.

Ive had to make do with a cd walkman plugged into the line-in and that works fine playing cds but working with itunes or watching youtube is a nitemare! Any suggestions?!

Either try Windows Updates for any driver updates for the sound card.
Or Start -> right click Computer -> Properties and select Device Manager and double click on the Sound, Video and games Controller to see if there is any exclamation mark indicating problems, if not try to update the drivers from there.

It said the device was working properly, but updated driver anyway and its still the same.
