Hi,
I am wanting to divide a large bedroom into two seperate rooms. The internal wall is a timber stud wall that runs at 90 degrees to joists. Does this make it load bearing. There is one doorway that i want to block up and create 2 others in same wall, what sort of strengthening do i need above the doorways in the form of lintels?

Many thanks in advance,

Gary.

If the wall construction is only timber stud, it will not be load bearing and you will not need lintels to use as support above doors as it is already non-structural.
The floor above is supported elsewhere.
